This is an exciting time for our organization, as we are preparing for our 25th Anniversary conference. We are celebrating this milestone event in Austin, TX, on October 28-30, 2011. The information for the conference is on this website. I hope you all can join us for this momentous affair.

This year’s theme, “SERVE, LEAD, and EMPOWER” exemplifies our mission to promote the advancement of Hispanic women. Our workshops and presentations will focus on leadership training for all women. This year, we once again have some dynamic speakers at our conference. I encourage everyone to attend and hear these inspiring and motivating speakers.

We also have a great celebration on Saturday evening that will reflect on the past 25 years. We will recognize some of our founding members and our state past chairs, as well as unveil our new HWNT logo and much more. Come join us for dinner and a toast at this Red Carpet Affair. Following this event, we are excited to present a short premier viewing of the movie, “In Search of the American Dream”, with the Producer/Director and some of the actors present for a Q & A.

As you can see, we are very fortunate to have Texas Secretary of State, Esperanza “Hope” Andrade, Travis County District Clerk, Amalia Rodriguez-Mendoza and Former Texas State Representative, Christine Hernandez as our Honorary Chairs. These women have been huge supporters of HWNT and we are honored to have them join us. We are recognizing our members as Estrellas de Tejas for their outstanding support and involvement in their communities and their HWNT chapters. Our 2011 Trailblazer Award will be presented to Teresa Lozano Long for her many years of support to educational intiatives, arts and culture.

We continue to have generous sponsors who have been with us through many conferences. We couldn’t do all of this without their continuous support. Thanks to each one of them.

I hope that you all will join us in congratulating all of our awardees; thank our sponsors and hear these outstanding speakers. We want you to come and reconnect with your friends from across the state and make new ones.

I look forward to seeing you at our conference.

Abrazos,

Mary Ann Kellam
HWNT State Chair
